What’s Involved in Plant Relocation?
The process of relocating a plant is typically broken down into several key stages:
- Initial Consultation and Planning
The first step involves understanding your business needs and the scale of the relocation. A Project Manager will assess the current plant layout, the machinery involved, and the new facility’s requirements. A detailed plan is then developed, outlining timelines, milestones, and any challenges that may arise. - Site Survey and Risk Assessment
Before the move takes place, a thorough site survey is conducted. This helps identify potential obstacles in both the current and new locations. It also allows for a risk assessment to determine how best to handle sensitive or high-value equipment. - Disassembly and Packaging
Once the plan is in place, the next step is to carefully disassemble the equipment. This process can involve removing parts, securing machinery, and protecting them with appropriate packaging materials. - Transportation
Transportation is one of the most critical stages in the relocation process. Depending on the size and nature of the equipment, this could involve road, rail, or even air transport. M.J. Nester has the expertise to ensure that machinery is safely loaded, transported, and unloaded at the new site. - Reassembly and Installation
Once the equipment arrives at its new home, the next step is reassembly and installation. This involves putting all machinery back together, calibrating it, and ensuring it’s ready for operation. For some industries, this might also include reconnecting to power supplies, water systems, or specialized networks. M.J. Nester works diligently to provide you a turnkey solution with experts in mechanical installs, fabrication, welding, electrical installs, and PLC - Recommissioning and Optimization
After installation, a testing phase ensures that everything is functioning correctly. This includes checking for alignment, verifying electrical connections, and running simulations to confirm that the equipment is working as it should. Adjustments are made if necessary to ensure peak performance. M.J. Nester crews will not leave until they are sure the job has been completed correctly.
